Nikita Shanks was born and raised here in Albuquerque NM and has recited for over twenty years. Nikita attended Del Norte High School where she graduated in 2005. During her High School years Nikita had a love for sports, she made First team All state, and played in the East vs West all star game where she injury her knee and was told by many that it would  be a long shot playing  collage ball.

Because of determination she had an opportunity to play basketball for Western New Mexico University in Silver city.  Because of her knee injury she struggle in her game and didn't get a lot of playing time, so she pressured other opportunities. Nikita has received her certificate as a Veterinary Assistant from Pima Medical Institute. Nikita also Volunteers a lot of her free time helping kids in the community improve their game as they reach for their dream to play basketball in the WNBA.

Nakita  enjoys  helping  at-risk youth stay in school, and love being apart of an organization that reaches out to Native Americans who she has seen left out of good program around the city.
