The Road from New Mexico to national holiday

These leaders carried the day in New Mexico

State Representative Rick Miera (District 11, Bernalillo County) introduced House Bill 363 in the 2007 legislative session. State Senator Mary Jane M. Garcia (District 36, Dona Ana County) co-sponsored the same bill in the senate--Senate Bill 626. These bills established a New Mexico Youth Day holiday for the state. Lieutenant Governor Diane D. Denish signed House Bill 363 into law on April 4th, 2007, in Martinez Town, Albuquerque. Later Governor Bill Richardson signed the two bills as a whole.

Now we call on our leaders in Congress

Prime Time For The Kids' Youth advisory team is asking our leaders in Congress to come together to introduce a smilar bill that would establish a youth day holiday at the national level. It's time for change, and it would be great to say we finally have a day set aside on the calendar that we can call our own, like Father's Day and Mother's Day. This would be a great opportunity for families to come together to reconize our youth for their achievements each year.
